Wordpress: Minimal security measures right from the start

Right from the start you should do a few little things to make your Wordpress page secure. Later on you will probably install a security plugin too, but these steps will prevent setting up things twice.

  1. Name your database table prefix something else then wp_
Just use some random alphanumeric characters and an underscore at the end...
  2. Name your user something else than admin (but definitely not user)
Just make it something else then the default choice...
  3. Use a strong password right from the start
At least 8 random alphanumeric characters. Use this: http://passgen.org/
  4. Always apply all updates to WP, themes and plugins
